Strengthening the Capacity of the Nigeria Police Force to Effectively Respond to Violence Against Women and Girls

JRI, in partnership with the National Human Rights Commission and with technical support from the Office of the Vice-President, is implementing a project that seeks to strengthen the human capacity and institutional capabilities of first responder agencies, particularly the Nigeria Police Force, in a bid to create an enabling environment for survivors to report incidents of gender-based violence (GBV).

The project, which is funded by Ford Foundation aims to institutionalise standards for receiving, recording and responding to GBV incidents across the country.

JRI serves as a hub for legal minds, researchers and scholars to carry out legal research, formulate policies for critical reforms, establish institutional structures for effective public engagement and collaborate to design content for capacity development programmes.
